The inspiring story of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, was brought to life on the big screen by Sajid Nadiadwala, the head of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment through the film ‘Chandu Champion’. Headlined by Kartik Kumar in the titular role, and directed by Kabir Khan, Murlikant Petkar’s film brought everyone’s attention to the glorious life and striggles of India’s Paralympic gold medalist. Padmashri Petkar was honored with the Arjuna Award (Lifetime) 52 years after his historic achievement.

Expressing his gratitude upon receiving this prestigious award, Murlikant Petkar said, “I am deeply moved and thankful to receive the Arjuna Lifetime Award. This recognition is not only a personal accomplishment but also a tribute to the collective support and belief of many remarkable individuals. I want to extend my sincere thanks to Sajid Nadiadwala ji for believing in my story and dedicating his trust and resources to bringing it to the screen through Chandu Champion. His constant support has made all the difference. I would also like to acknowledge Kabir Khan for authentically directing my journey on screen, and Kartik for his flawless portrayal of my story. This achievement belongs as much to them as it does to me. I am grateful to the entire Chandu Champion team for making this film and inspiring countless people with my story.”

Earlier, Kartik Aaryan had also shared a congratulatory post for Murlikant Petkar as he was listed for the Lifetime Arjuna Award. Sharing a picture of the Olympian, Aaryan had written, “Huge Huge Huge Congratulations to Sri Murlikant Petkar Ji Our film, #ChanduChampion begins with the scene of you fighting for the Arjuna Award and now seeing you getting the biggest sports honour of the country… the journey feels complete.
