According to police, the initial autopsy report revealed that he sustained significant head injuries.

The post-mortem examination was conducted on Wednesday evening at a civic-run hospital.
According to PTI, the report indicated that Mehta died due to multiple injuries to his head, legs, and hands. Authorities are currently gathering statements from his family members and witnesses who discovered Mehta lying in a pool of blood on the building's premises.
Investigations are ongoing to establish further details surrounding the tragic incident.
It has been reported that prior to the incident, Anil Mehta made a phone call to both his daughters, Amrita and Malaika, saying, "I’m sick and tired," before allegedly taking the fatal step.
What happened on the morning Malaika's father died
According to reports, Malaika’s mother, Joyce Polycarp, who was in the flat at the time of the incident, has shared key details with the Mumbai Police. Joyce was in the house when the incident took place. Joyce noticed Anil's slippers in the living room, prompting her to search for him on the balcony. However, when she couldn’t find him, she leaned over the railing and saw a commotion below. The building's watchman was shouting for help, and that’s when she realised something terrible had happened.

Malaika and family release statement
The statement from the family read, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”
Anil Mehta was cremated on Thursday at the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium in Mumbai.
