After winning the award, expressing gratitude over her win Kriti told the media, “Just very very overwhelmed. I feel very blessed & grateful. It was a very special moment, especially for Mimi & also my parents were here watching me. I don’t think I’ve felt this before.”

Earlier on the red carpet, Kriti said that winning the honour within the first decade of her career is a big achievement.

"To win a National Award within the first decade (of your career) is a very big thing. I am really fortunate and blessed that I got an opportunity like Mimi. Sometimes you do not get to play such a layered character easily. I am really blessed and fortunate that my director and producer felt that I could do it,” she said.

The actor took to Instagram and shared pictures with veteran actor Waheeda Rehman, Alia Bhatt, and Kriti Sanon. He wrote along with the pictures, “It was a life time experience to witness Shri Waheeda Rehman ji win the Dadasaheb phalke award . More than 6 decades of career in films . Truly inspiring . It was a absolute pleasure to see dear @aliaabhatt win this award . Iconic performance for an iconic film . Truly deserving and many more …. It’s was a pleasure having the company of dear @kritisanon . A well deserved award for a league jumper performance. What a lovely lady … wishing her more in this journey… and hopefully a movie together soon.”
