“Am I the only actor who has received such a price? Nobody writes about others but everyone writes about me,” he told Filmfare.

Kartik, who has often spoken about carving his own path in Bollywood without any film industry connections, added that the narrative around his earnings might be influenced by his outsider status. “I don’t have my uncle, or my dad or my sister or my girlfriend spreading positivity about me in the articles or in the industry. This news is coming from somewhere else. I don’t need this to prove anything. There are some who get irked by the fact that people make it on their own. And they try to make stories about that person a lot more.”

In the same interview, the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ star also opened up about constant speculation regarding his love life. From Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor to Ananya Panday, Kartik has been rumoured to have dated several of his co-stars in the past. Recently, he was even linked to his Aashiqui 3 co-star Sreeleela — a claim that sparked a new round of buzz due to the 11-year age gap between them.
“I’m currently single and not dating. In the past, there was a lot of speculation about my dating life, some true, some not,” Kartik clarified.
He recalled how, in his early days in the industry, even a single public appearance with someone could spark endless rumours. “At the time, I was new to the idea of people linking me romantically with others and didn’t pay much attention to it. The media would often spin stories from a single photo, even if I’d just met someone. It felt surreal and I’d even get updates about my own dating life. Over time, I realised I needed to be more careful in how I handled such situations.”
On dating someone from the industry
When asked if he would consider dating someone from the industry, Kartik said he was open to the idea. “It’s crucial to prioritise time for each other despite busy schedules,” he said, adding that being in the same profession often helps partners better understand the demands of each other’s work.
Fresh off the success of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, Kartik is now shooting for ‘Aashiqui 3’, helmed by Anurag Basu. The actor and Sreeleela were recently spotted filming in Gangtok, Sikkim.
