Kareena Kapoor Shares Feeling 'Shattered' When 'Tashan' Flopped And 'Jab We Met' Became A Hit

Kareena Kapoor is currently busy with the promotions of her upcoming film 'The Buckingham Murders' directed by Hansal Mehta.

Kareena Kapoor is currently busy with the promotions of her upcoming film 'The Buckingham Murders' directed by Hansal Mehta. While the actress has marked her place in the industry as one of the leading ladies over the years, there was a time when she was "depressed and shattered" as one of her films bombed at the box-office.

When Kareena Kapoor got depressed

During an interview with Anupama Chopra, Kareena Kapoor Khan shared how the failure of her film 'Tashan' at the box-office had her depressed for around six months.

Released in 2008, Tashan was an action-romance film that starred Kareena Kapoor alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. Kareena had high hopes for the film, expecting it to be a massive hit. However, despite its promising cast and crew, Tashan tanked at the box office, leaving Kareena devastated.

Interestingly, Kareena was simultaneously shooting for Jab We Met, a romantic drama directed by Imtiaz Ali, alongside Shahid Kapoor. Initially, she didn't expect the film to become a blockbuster, but Jab We Met went on to become a massive hit, earning critical acclaim and commercial success.

Talking about the same, Kareena said, "My hope was always lying on Tashan and when Tashan bombed and this film kind of went on to become what it was, I was like shattered."

Here’s @kareenakapoorkhan describing how Tashan and Jab We Met changed her life but not in the way she thought it would!"

A third person wrote, "I loved, geet more than guddiya, and in tashan, somehow , hoped saif and Kareena ended up together, whatever in life expect suprises 😂"

Kareena's Character Geet: A Breakthrough Role

In Jab We Met, Kareena played the role of Geet, a bubbly and energetic girl who falls in love with Aditya (Shahid Kapoor). Geet's character was a departure from Kareena's previous roles, showcasing her impressive range as an actress. Her performance earned her widespread praise, cementing her position as a leading lady in Bollywood.
