It was reported in February that Charan Kaur was pregnant and underwent In vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, successfully conceiving a baby expected in March. Sidhu Moosewala's uncle, Chamkaur Singh, had verified Charan's pregnancy.

Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on May 29, 2022 in Punjab's Mansa district. The incident took place just a day after the withdrawal of his security cover, as part of the government's efforts to curtail VIP culture in the state.

On May 29, Moosewala left his house with his cousin Gurpreet Singh and neighbour Gurwinder Singh at around 4:30 pm, according to police. He was driving his SUV to his aunt's house in Barnala. At Jawaharke, two cars blocked his SUV. Around 30 rounds were fired during the incident.

Moosewala's murder case involves 31 accused, including gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, with 25 already taken into custody.
