Anshula Kapoor, daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and the late Mona Shourie Kapoor, has often stayed away from the limelight. But in a recent candid conversation, the Traitors reality show contestant opened up about her difficult childhood shaped by her father’s high-profile second marriage to superstar Sridevi.

Anushula On Boney Kapoor And Sridevi's Love Story
Late superstar Sridevi and filmmaker Boney Kapoor shared one of Bollywood’s most talked-about relationships. Their love story stood out for its unconventional nature—Boney was already married to Mona Shourie Kapoor and had two children, Arjun and Anshula Kapoor, when he met Sridevi.
In 1996, Boney divorced Mona, moved out of their family home, and married Sridevi in a private ceremony the same year. The couple later welcomed daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. However, the shift deeply affected his children from his first marriage, especially Arjun, who has publicly acknowledged a strained relationship with his father in the early years.

"There Was a Drastic Shift in the Way My Classmates Behaved"
Speaking about the aftermath of her parents’ separation, Anshula recalled: “I was in the first standard, and what started happening was there were families who didn’t want to associate with what was happening in our lives. They didn’t want their children to come into our house, and be part of any friction. In the 90s, you went to some child’s house after school, right?"
"I remember that there was a drastic shift in the way that my classmates were behaving towards me, and the way that their families were behaving towards me. It was a very emotional and a very confusing time to be in school.”
Anshula’s words reflect the isolation and confusion children often experience when surrounded by adult dynamics they don’t fully understand.
"Had They Not Been That Public, It Would’ve Been Easier"
Anshula further addressed the challenges of growing up with famous parents whose personal lives were constantly in the public eye:
“Because of the partner that dad chose, unfortunately or fortunately, it became a lot more public, because they were both public figures. Had they not been that public, it would’ve been easier for us to deal with.”
She added that beyond the public scrutiny, she was also navigating the emotional gap created by her father’s absence from their home.

The tragic passing of Sridevi in 2018 became an unexpected turning point for the Kapoor family. The loss brought Arjun and Anshula closer to their half-sisters, Janhvi and Khushi, mending years of emotional distance. Today, they share a strong bond and stand united as one family.
