Actor Ameesha Patel, who is gearing up for the release of her film ‘Gadar 2’, received backlash from the internet after she posted a series of tweets defending her ‘Gadar 2’ co-actor Simrat Kaur.

New Delhi: Actor Ameesha Patel, who is gearing up for the release of her film ‘Gadar 2’, received backlash from the internet after she posted a series of tweets defending her ‘Gadar 2’ co-actor Simrat Kaur. It all started when pictures and videos of a few intimate scenes of Simrat from her previous films started circulating on the internet, leading to netizens criticising her casting in the highly anticipated sequel of the 2001 film ‘Gadar’.

Ameesha Patel took to Twitter to express her support for Simrat Kaur. In her tweets, she requested everyone to spread positivity and not shame the young actress. Ameesha emphasized the need to encourage new talent and spoke out against the online trolling faced by Simrat. However, instead of receiving praise and support, Ameesha became a target of merciless trolling from netizens.

She ended her series of tweets with a post that read,. "Spent the entire evening today defending the negativity surrounding Simrat Kaur who is paired opposite Utkarsh Sharma in GADAR 2!! Being a girl I request all to only spread positivity and not shame a girl! Let's encourage new talent.”

Several users accused Ameesha Patel of orchestrating a negative stunt and targeting Simrat Kaur. One user even suggested that Ameesha was involved in a strange marketing strategy, pointing out that her timeline was filled with adult movie clips featuring Simrat. "Good marketing style," wrote one user. Another user wrote, "Good strategy but we won't fall for it."

'Gadar 2', directed by Anil Sharma, is a much-anticipated sequel to the iconic film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha'. The original film featured Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in lead roles as Tara Singh and Sakina. In the sequel, Utkarsh Sharma portrays the role of Charanjeet, the son of Sunny Deol's character. The film is set to hit theaters on August 11, where it will face competition from Akshay Kumar's OMG 2 at the box office.
