Ameesha Patel Recalls Slapping Men For Inappropriate Behaviour In Crowds: ‘This Often Happens To Women…’

Ameesha Patel recently opened up about a disturbing incident she faced during the shooting of her hit film 'Gadar'.

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel, who played the lead in both Gadar and Gadar 2, recently talked about a frightening incident that happened while shooting Gadar in Amritsar. She said that she had to slap men because of their improper behaviour in public. Ameesha said in an interview with Filmy Mantra that she often had to cope with men's inappropriate behaviour.

Ameesha elaborated on the widespread problem of misbehaviour in large gatherings by saying, "Yeh aksar auraton ke saath hota hai, ladkiyon ke saath hota hai crowded places mein. Naa ki mein ek actor hu, naa ki kyunki mein public platform mein hu. Yeh hota hai kyunki hum ladkiyan hai, hum aurat hai. (This often happens to women and girls in crowded places—not because I’m an actor or on a public platform, but simply because we are women)."

Chaotic Gadar Shoot

Ameesha recalled an instance during the shooting a crucial sequence as Sakina at a real train station in Amritsar for the 'Gadar' film, when she was encircled by a huge mob of around 20,000 people. She shared, “I have turned down and slapped them. I think every woman should because protecting yourself is your birthright. Anybody be it a stranger, family member, or friend, if a woman is touched inappropriately she should give it back.”

Ameesha Patel on Love and Companionship

In the same interview, Ameesha Patel shared her honest views on companionship and why she remains content being single. She said, “I think I am very happy with the way my life is going. I don’t lack companionship—I’m so busy with my work that there’s no space for it.”

She added, “I don’t think I’ve found that particular person who ticks the boxes in my mind. I am my own person, and I am Ameesha Patel, and I’m happy to be her.”
