Aishwarya Rai played the role of Binodini in the 2003 film 'Chokher Bali,' directed by Rituparno Ghosh. The film also featured Prosenjit Chatterjee (known for his roles in 'Scoop' and 'Jubilee') and Tota Roy Chowdhury (from 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani') in significant roles. In a recent interview with Mamaraazzi, Prosenjit reminisced about working with Aishwarya and revealed that she used to have kachori (a Bengali snack) for breakfast during the shoot. He also reflected on his frequent disagreements with the director.

Prosenjit on working with Aishwarya Rai

Prosenjit shared, “Aishwarya was very good. She is very sweet. Abhishek [Bachchan] is one of the sweetest boys I have met. He is very affectionate and nice. Ritu [Rituparno Ghosh] and I did many films together and were friends, but we used to fight a lot on set. In Bengali, we would get mithai (sweets) and kachori in the morning on set. She would eat all of those and say, ‘You are the topmost hero, he is the topmost director, why are you fighting?’"

Prosenjit on doing bold scenes with Aishwarya

He also mentioned the bold scenes they shared in the film, adding, "Whenever we were on set, it was like magic happened. She was very nice. Every moment was wonderful. We had many bold and emotional scenes in 'Chokher Bali,' and everything was done well because Ritu was there.”

About Chokher Bali

'Chokher Bali,' an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's novel of the same name, portrays Aishwarya as a widow who has an affair with Prosenjit's character in a 19th-century Bengali household. The film was critically acclaimed and won three National Awards.
