‘Adipurush’: Case Filed Against Saif Ali Khan For His Statement On Raavan’s Abduction Of Sita

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who will portray the role of ‘Lankesh’ in Om Raut's 'Adipurush', stirred controversy after he said that he would 'justify Raavan's abduction of Sita' in the film. His words didn't go down well with a certain section of people and netizens expressed their displeasure over the actor's interview and demanded the makers to replace the 'Jawaani Jaaneman' star. Withdrawing his statement, the ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ actor added that the entire team of 'Adipurush' is working to present the epic drama 'without any distortions'. However, according to the latest report, a case has been filed against the ‘Sacred Games’ actor in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. According to a report of IANS, the case is in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) and it has fixed December 23 as the next date of hearing in the case. The report added, “A civil court advocate, Himanshu Srivastava, has given an application through advocate Upendra Vikram Singh under section 156 (3). According to the petition, the plaintiff has deep faith in 'Sanatan Dharma'.” The plaintiff further alleged Saif Ali Khan’s interview as a negative portrayal of ‘faith in Sanatan Dharma’. The petitioner further claimed, “Apart from the plaintiff, witnesses Vinod Srivastava, Ajit Singh, Brijesh Nishad, Nilesh Nishad, Surya Prakash Singh and Vivek Tiwari also saw and heard the interview through Internet media at 8 p.m. on December 9. This has hurt their religious sentiments.” On the professional front, Saif Ali Khan was last seen in Sushant Singh Rajput's last film 'Dil Bechara'. He also recently completed the shoot of 'Bhoot Police' in Dharamshala which stars Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam.
