New Delhi: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is a regular at Cannes Film Festival, made her first red carpet appearance this year at the screening of ‘Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny’ on Thursday with a rather surprising look. The actor wore a silver hooded gown from Sophie Couture paired with a huge black bow. Aishwarya kept her hair open and completed her look with red lipstick.
Netizens were not impressed with her look and the ‘hoodie couture’ started a meme fest on the internet. Some said it appeared as if she had picked up a flowing sheet of aluminum foil from a kitchen in a hurry to act as a sort of canopy atop her flowing black gown, some felt was inspired from the alien Jaadu from the film Koi... Mil Gaya while some said it reminded them of a shawarma roll and some were reminded of “Swiggy instamart ice cream delivery” by the look. A user said, 'Aishwarya has gift-wrapped herself.'

Her fans, however, insisted that she was looking very much like the "Queen of Cannes".
The Instagram handle of Sophie Couture had shared the details of Aishwarya's dress. "Unveiling a mind-blowing creation from our Maison, paired with lightweight aluminum details, a signature corset and crystals, from the Cannes Capsule Collection,” the caption read.

Earlier in the morning, she wore a little more understandable dress -- a shimmery green cape by Valentino paired with straight hair, light lipliner, and glass high heels. This look was for a L'Oreal event. Aishwarya has been representing the cosmetics giant for more than two decades.
This is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 21st year at the Cannes Film Festival, the first time being around the film 'Devdas' directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali co-starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Apart from Aishwarya, Sara Ali Khan, Esha Gupta, Urvashi Rautela, Mrunal Thakur, Vijay Varma, Guneet Monga have so far made red carpet appearances this year. Anushka Sharma is also expected to attend the film festival this year.
