Police has arrested TV actor VJ Chitra's husband for alleged abetment to suicide. She was found dead at a hotel in the outskirts of Chennai, on December 9.

She was found dead at a hotel in the outskirts of Chennai, on December 9. She had recently been engaged to businessman Hemanth. Hemanth had said in his statement to the police that Chithra told him she is going for a bath soon after returning to the room. However, she didn't come out for long and neither responded when he knocked at the door. Hemanth then called the hotel staff and when they opened the door with a duplicate key, she was reportedly found hanging from the ceiling fan with her saree. The 29-year old actress, was well known among television audience in Tamil Nadu particularly among lovers of soap opera after she donned the role of 'Mullai,' in the ongoing television serial 'Pandian Stores.' The 32-year old man who was recently engaged to her and he was staying with her in the hotel room. After she was found dead, police had sent her body to Kilpauk Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
