Punjab Election 2022: WWE Wrestler The Great Khali Alias Dilip Rana Joins BJP Ahead Of Polls
Punjab Election 2022: Dilip Singh Rana has joined BJP. Earlier, Dilip Singh Rana has also been meeting Aam Aadmi Party leaders.
New Delhi: The Great Khali alias Dilip Singh Rana, who made his mark with international fights like WWE has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today at its headquarters in New Delhi. He has earlier been part of the public campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.
He said that he joined the party after being influenced by BJP's national policy. "I'm glad to have joined BJP... I feel that PM Modi's work for the nation makes him the right Prime Minister. So, I thought why not be a part of his governance for the nation's development. I joined BJP after being influenced by BJP's national policy: Wrestler The Great Khali," Khali said, reports news agency ANI.

Rana, aka Khali was inducted into the saffron party in the presence of Union Minister Jitendra Singh. In recent times, many big stars have joined the BJP. Earlier this week, Punjabi actress Mahie Gill had also joined the BJP.
Dilip Singh Rana has been India's biggest name in WWE so far. While being a part of WWE, Dilip Singh Rana aka The Great Khali won several major championships. However, he has distanced himself from WWE from past several years.
He has campaigned earlier too.
Dilip Singh Rana was seen in political landscape earlier as well. In the 2017 Punjab assembly elections, he campaigned for Aam Aadmi Party candidates. In November last year, Khali had also come to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. During that time there were speculations of him joining the Aam Aadmi Party.
Dilip Rana has been an employee of the Punjab Police. He had quit his job in Punjab Police to join WWE. The former Heavyweight Champion had also tried his luck in Bollywood once.
Polling for the Punjab assembly elections will be held on February 20 in a single phase. The Congress party has announced current Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi as the chief ministerial candidate while the Aam Aadmi Party has fielded Bhagwant Mann as their CM candidate. The BJP has not yet revealed their CM cnadidate. The BJP has joined hands with the Shiromani Akali Dal Sanyukta and the Punjab Lok Congress for the upcoming Punjab Assembly Election.
