Uttarakhand Election: Priyanka Gandhi Slams Modi Govt Over Development, Launches Congress Manifesto

Priyanka Gandhi slammed the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state and told people that they will have to decide that development should be an issue in polls. 

Dehradun: With days left for the much-crucial Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday visited the hill state and addressed a virtual rally in Dehradun. 

During the rally, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary slammed the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state and told people that they will have to decide that development should be an issue in polls. 

"You'll have to decide that development should be an issue in polls. Ask political parties, that come to talk about religion & caste, what are they saying for your development? Ask them what did they do for you in 5 years," she said.

Furthermore, Priyanka also took a pod shot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the purchase of choppers by Centre.

"Balance due for sugarcane across the nation is Rs 14,000 cr. PM purchased 2 choppers for himself for Rs 16,000 cr. The due balance could've been cleared at the cost of choppers. But what did he choose? Two choppers," she alleged. 

Congress Launches Uttarakhand Election Manifesto

During the virtual rally, Priyanka Gandhi also launched Congress manifesto for upcoming polls. 

In the manifesto, the grand old party has Congress has made big announcements that includes providing Rs 40,000 annually to as many as five lakh families in the state.

Along with this, the party has also promised to provide employment to four lakh youth of Uttarakhand. Making the announcements, Priyanka Gandhia also assured that Congress will provide health facilities to every village, every door of the hill state.

The party has also said that the price of gas cylinders in the state will not exceed Rs 500.

Uttarakhand Election Dates

The 70-seat Uttarakhand Assembly is scheduled to go for polls in a single phase on February 14 this year. The results of the Uttarakhand polls will be announced by Election Commission on 10 March.

As per the Election Commission of India, Uttarakhand will have a total of 11,647 polling booths for the elections. Over 82 lakh voters will be eligible to vote in the upcoming polls.

The hill state is said to witness a triangular electoral contest between the ruling BJP, Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
