Telangana CM KCR Tenders Resignation As Congress Touches Magic Figure

Telangana is on the verge of a power shift, with the Congress party bagged 60 of the 119 seats.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has resigned in the wake of his party's defeat in the assembly election, according to BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Sunday, news agency PTI reported. The results were not what his party had hoped for, but BRS is grateful to the people for allowing it to serve them for two straight terms, he added. The state is on the verge of a power shift, with the Congress party bagged 60 of the 119 seats. Meanwhile, the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS, which has been in power since the state's establishment in 2014, is behind.

Speaking with media, KT Rama Rao stated: "As part of the democratic process, our chief minister has already sent his resignation to the Governor. I think the due process will follow."
