Slogan Of '40% Commission Govt' Coined By People Of Karnataka: Rahul Gandhi Attacks Bommai Govt

During his speech, Gandhi stated, "You know the BJP very well in Karnataka. I didn't coin the slogan of "40% Commission Govt", it was coined by you - the people of Karnataka."

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched an attack on BJP, stating that Basavanna ji was the first person in India to speak of democracy and show the path to it, however, today "people of RSS and BJP are attacking democracy." Speaking at a rally in Karnataka's Bhalki, Gandhi said, "The thinking of Basavanna ji of participation by all, a place for all & that everyone should go ahead together is being attacked by BJP & RSS. They are spreading hatred and violence in India."

Taking a dig at the Bommai government, Gandhi stated, "You know the BJP very well in Karnataka. I didn't coin the slogan of "40% Commission Govt", it was coined by you - the people of Karnataka."

"But before speaking on BJP, I want to tell you what Congress Govt will do in Karnataka, after winning the election," Gandhi added.

Gandhi remarked that the Congress government's first cabinet meeting after coming to power will be dedicated to deciding on the implementation of their poll guarantees.

Speaking on the OBC census, the Congress leader said, "If we want to take OBC in the country forward and give them their rights, the first step would be for the Prime Minister to release data of the OBC census. PM will never do this as he doesn't want the welfare of OBC. Congress will do this as soon as we get the opportunity."

Several senior Congress leaders, including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC President D K Shivakumar, were also present during the event.

Gandhi on Sunday had addressed the 'Jai Bharat' rally in Kolar, the same place from where he made a remark on the Modi surname for which he was convicted of criminal defamation and also stripped of his Parliament membership.
