Rajasthan Polls: Congress Promises Caste Census, Rs 2 Lakh Interest-Free Loan To Farmers In Manifesto

The Congress party on Tuesday released its manifesto, 'Jan Ghoshna Patra' for the upcoming Rajasthan polls.

The Congress party on Tuesday released its manifesto for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly polls at the state party office in Jaipur. The party promised Rs 2 lakh interest-free loan to farmers, MSP as per the Swaminathan Commission report. Congress also promised a new scheme for recruitment at panchayat level and caste census. The 'Jan Ghoshna Patra' was unveiled by Congress in-charge for Rajasthan Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, state party president Govind Singh Dotasra, manifesto committee chairman C P Joshi and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot.

Speaking at the launch event, Kharge said, "We make promises which we can fulfil."

"...The way in which we have managed the financial situation of Rajasthan, the people of Rajasthan will feel proud about it... The per capita income has increased by 46.48 per cent in Rajasthan. Till 2030, it is our dream to achieve the number-one position in per capita income. In 2020–21, the state GDP reached 19.50, which is the highest in the decade..." said Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot.

CM Gehlot, who is eyeing to retain his chair in the November 25 polls, had earlier announced seven "guarantees" to the people of the state, if the party is re-elected to power. 

The seven "guarantees" include: an annual honorarium of Rs 10,000 to women head of family, LPG cylinders for Rs 500 to 1.05 crore families, purchase of dung from cattle rearers for Rs 2 per kg, law for old pension scheme for government employees, laptop or tablet to students taking admission in government colleges, insurance cover up to Rs 15 lakh per family to compensate losses due to natural calamity, and school education in English medium. 

The Bharatiya Janata Party has already released its poll manifesto focusing better prospects for the farmers, youth, and the women. 

The assembly elections to the 200-member Rajasthan Legislative Assembly will be held in a single phase on November 25 and the votes will be counted on December 3.
