Manipur Election 2022: Polling For First Phase To Be Conducted On Feb 28 — Here's List Of Assembly Constituencies
Manipur Election Phase 1 Assembly Constituencies: In the first phase, 38 assembly constituencies from 5 districts will go to poll on February 28. Polling is being held in Manipur in 2 phases.
Manipur Election Phase 1 Assembly Constituencies: Voting for the first phase of the elections in Manipur is taking place on Monday, that is February 28. 38 assembly constituencies from five districts are going to the polls as campaigning for the first phase came to an end on February 26, Saturday.
173 candidates, including 15 women, will fight from 38 assembly seats in the first phase of the Manipur assembly election 2022. Although 175 candidates were approved during scrutiny two Independent candidates — P Somorjit and Thangminlien Kipgen — withdrew their candidatures.
Manipur's first phase polls cover 29 seats in the valley districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, and Bishnupur. The rest - Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Pherzawl - are in the hill districts.
Prominent BJP candidates fighting for the first phase include chief minister N Biren Singh (Heingang seat), assembly speaker Y Khemchand Singh (Singjamei), ministers Th Biswajit Singh (Thongju), S Rajen Singh (Lamsang), O Lukhoi Singh (Wangoi), and Vungzagin Valte (Thanlon).
Deputy CM Yumnam Joykumar will fight from Uripok seat and its legislator L Jayantakumar Singh will contest from the Keishamthong seat.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and senior legislator N Loken Singh will contest from Nambol constituency and the party's senior MLA TN Haokip will fight from Saikot seat. The total number of Independent candidates for the first phase is 18.
