Madhya Pradesh election: Heated argument breaks out between Digvijaya and Scindia; Rahul Gandhi intervenes

As per sources, Rahul Gandhi had to immediately constitute a committee which would decide on the dissemination of tickets for the elections, in order to resolve the tiff between the two leaders.

New Delhi: As the political buzz in Madhya Pradesh is escalating in the wake of forthcoming Assembly polls, a major verbal fight broke out between two senior Congress leaders – Digvijaya Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia over ticket dissemination in the state. As per sources, the argument broke out in the presence of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who had to stand up and intervene between the two and calm them down. The duel took place on Wednesday night during party’s election committee meeting. Sources say Rahul Gandhi had to immediately constitute a committee which would decide on the distribution of tickets for the elections, in order to resolve the prolonging tiff between the two leaders. Senior party leaders Ashok Gehlot, Veerappa Moily and  Ahmed Patel were appointed members in the committee. Internal rift in MP Congress: It is a known fact about Madhya Pradesh Congress that they have been unable to defeat Shivraj government in last 15 years because of their internal rift and has exasperated the problem. Digvijaya has his separate camp, Scindia and senior leader leader Kamal Nath have their own. Considering the past trend and the factionalism marring the Congress' prospects, the party was attempting to work on the differences and put up a united face in the forthcoming polls. Scindia is Congress Member of Parliament from Guna city of Madhya Pradesh whereas; Digvijaya Singh is an MP from Madhya Pradesh as well and the General Secratory of All India Congress Committee. Madhya Pradesh is set to go to polls on November 28. The counting of votes is set to take place on December 11.
