Crime And Corruption Rampant In States With 'Vikas-Virodhi' Govts: PM Modi In MP Hits Out At Congress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated and launched various projects worth about Rs 19,260 crore in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday presented his vision for the development of Madhya Pradesh, underlining the transformative impact of the "double engine" government while taking a swipe at the Opposing dubbing them as "anti-development forces". Gwalior witnessed announcements of major projects and a commitment to progress with the Prime Minister addressing a crowd of ruling BJP's supporters.

"Those people who don't have a new thinking or a new roadmap for development can never help Madhya Pradesh progress. These people have only one work, and that is to obstruct the country's progress and the various schemes. They forget about the country's achievements with all the hatred that they have," remarked PM Modi, stressing the need for a forward-thinking approach.

PM Modi underscored the significance of the "double engine," which he said signifies double development for Madhya Pradesh. He touted the accomplishments of the BJP-led government, transforming the state from a 'Bimaru Rajya' (economically lagging state) to one of the top ten states in India.

"Madhya Pradesh is a land of warriors. Foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 19,000 crore have been laid here. The number of projects launched by BJP in a year has never been done by any other party. Today, a lot of connectivity projects were launched, including IIT Indore, where a lot of new work has started," stated PM Modi, emphasising the government's commitment to infrastructure development.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to critique opposition-led states, alleging rampant crime and corruption. He stressed that a "double engine" government is essential for the state's growth in the next five years.

Citing the example of the Congress-ruled Rajasthan, he said Crime and corruption are rampant in states ruled by "anti-development forces": "Under the government of 'vikas-virodhi', law and order collapses. Beheadings took place openly in Rajasthan. In states ruled by them, crime and corruption have increased."

PM Modi expressed his assurance that India would be among the world's top three economies in the coming years. He further proclaimed that the BJP had successfully removed the 'Bimaru' tag from Madhya Pradesh, elevating it among the top ten states in terms of development.

"Today, Madhya Pradesh has faith in the double-engine government, which means 'double' development for the state," asserted PM Modi.

During the rally, PM Modi inaugurated projects worth around Rs 19,260 crore in Gwalior and dedicated the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway, developed at a cost of about Rs 11,895 crore, to the nation. The projects are aimed at enhancing connectivity across the country and signify a significant step towards the development of Madhya Pradesh.

On October 5, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of projects worth Rs 12,000 crore in Jabalpur. He will also lay the foundation of a museum dedicated to tribal queen Rani Durgavati who fought the Mughals, Sharma said. The saffron party is on an aggressive campaigning spree in the state as the Opposition is leaving no stone unturned to topple the Shivraj Singh-led government.

The Madhya Pradesh elections are slated to be held in November 2023.
