Lok Sabha Polls: Tamil Nadu Braces For Intense Showdown As Campaigning For Phase 1 To End Today

While DMK leaders expressed confidence in their victory citing Chief Minister Stalin's fulfillment of electoral promises, AIADMK alleged growing discontent among people towards the current government.

On the final day of campaigning before the voting for Lok Sabha polls, Tamil Nadu is witnessing a flurry of political activity. According to the model code of conduct, campaigning will end on Wednesday, setting the stage for the state's voting day on Friday. The four major forces--DMK-led alliance, AIADMK-led alliance, BJP-led alliance and Naam Tamilar Katchi--in the fray are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to sway voters.

K Annamalai, the BJP candidate for the Coimbatore constituency and Tamil Nadu BJP chief, took to the streets in a spirited roadshow.

Similarly, DMK's Perambalur Lok Sabha candidate, KN Arun Nehru, engaged in a vibrant roadshow in Tiruchirappalli.

Amidst the campaign frenzy, opinions are divided. While DMK leaders expressed confidence in their victory citing Chief Minister Stalin's fulfillment of electoral promises, AIADMK alleged growing discontent among the populace towards the incumbent government.

Campaigning in Central Chennai constituency, DMK sitting MP and candidate Dayanidhi Maran said, "In Central Chennai constituency it is very clear that the people here will reelect DMK because of the trust they have in our chief minister MK Stalin. In the last three years, our chief minister has delivered every poll promise which clearly shows that in Tamil Nadu DMK, will win again..."

In contrast, AIADMK's Jayavardhan, vying for South Chennai, highlighted what he perceived as widespread dissatisfaction with the current DMK administration, predicting an "anti-DMK wave" across Tamil Nadu. Jayavardhan said, "If we talk about my constituency, there is a rousing response from the people. People are extremely angry at this present DMK government. So wherever I go, there is a huge response from the people and they are showing thumbs up that you will win. So in in entire Tamil Nadu, there is an anti-DMK wave. So DMK will lose not only from my constituency but in all places, along with its allies, and partners."
