NC, Congress To Each Contest 3 LS Seats In J-K And Ladakh, Candidates For Jammu, Udhampur, Anantnag-Rajouri Declared

Conference leader Omar Abdullah said Chaudhary Lal Singh to contest from Udhampur, while Raman Bhalla will represent the Congress party in the Jammu constituency.

New Delhi: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the National Conference and the Congress have reached a seat-sharing agreement. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said,  "National Conference and Congress will each contest three Lok Sabha seats in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh".

Omar Abdullah said that Chaudhary Lal Singh will contest from Udhampur, while Raman Bhalla will represent the Congress party in the Jammu constituency. Additionally, Mian Altaf Sahib is set to contest from Anantnag-Rajouri and the candidates for the remaining seats will be announced soon.

He disclosed that National Conference candidates will contest from Anantnag, Baramulla, and Srinagar Lok Sabha seats.

After the seat-sharing arrangement, Omar Abdullah said, "We have decided to share them equally amongst us...We will work together to ensure the victory of all six candidates".

Venugopal Reviews Cong’s Election Campaign In J-K

 All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K C Venugopal on Sunday reviewed the organisational and election campaign strategies in the Udhampur and Jammu Lok Sabha constituencies, a party spokesman said. The meeting held virtually with Jammu-based AICC coordinators Ravinder Sharma and Naresh Gupta. During the meeting, the coordinators provided valuable grassroots feedback about the prevailing political situation in the region, the spokesman said. With the Udhampur and Jammu Lok Sabha seats scheduled for polls on April 19 and April 26, respectively, reported PTI.

“Venugopal got input about the coordination amongst various units of the party at different levels and with the alliance partners for an effective campaign in favour of Choudhary Lal Singh (Udhampur) and Raman Bhalla (Jammu),” the spokesman said.  

During the meeting, AICC coordinators briefed K C Venugopal about the successful conduct of the campaign, highlighting the seamless coordination and positive mood prevailing among the people regarding the potential for change in both the Udhampur and Jammu constituencies.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh and his colleague Jugal Kishore both eyeing third consecutive victories from their respective constituencies. However, AICC coordinators have provided insightful grassroots feedback indicating a growing discontent among the populace with the BJP and its policies.. Additionally, the coordinators shared feedback on the Congress party's manifesto and the response to the 25 guarantees outlined in the 'Nyay Patra'.
