'LPG Cylinder Price To Be Rs 2000 If BJP Returns To Power': Bengal CM Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee, a vocal opponent of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stated that the party will compel the people to go back to gathering wood for fire.

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, has claimed that if the Bharatiya Janata Party wins the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, cooking gas prices might jump to Rs 2,000 per cylinder, news agency ANI reported. Mamata Banerjee was speaking at a public gathering in Bengal's Jhargram district on Thursday. Mamata Banerjee, a vocal opponent of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stated that the party will compel the people to go back to gathering wood for fire.

Addressing the gathering, CM Banerjee stated: "We distributed rice free of cost... If they (BJP) win again, the gas price can be increased up to Rs.1,500-2,000. You have to collect cow dung and wood again for the cooking. This is the scenario of Delhi. They don't love West Bengal and tribal people."

Mamata Banerjee further claimed that if the Centre does not complete building houses under the Awas Yojana by the end of April, the West Bengal government will begin construction. Banerjee said that the BJP administration failed to pay the MGNREGA dues.

"I asked one youth whether he got the money for the 100 days' work scheme. He said he got around Rs 30,000. This was the amount that the central government had not paid people like him for the last two years. We have paid 59 lakh people their dues," she was quoted as saying by PTI in its report.

PM Modi In West Bengal

The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in West Bengal on Friday afternoon. According to his schedule, PM Modi would stay at Kolkata's Raj Bhavan.

Later, he would address a public meeting at Arambagh, Hooghly district, to dedicate projects worth Rs 7,200 crore to the community.
