The counting of votes in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 is set to take place on Tuesday. The counting of votes in the general elections will bring an end to a marathon polling excercise lasting over 80 days. The Lok Sabha elections were held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1.
On one hand Prime Minister Narendra Miodi went all out at the opposition during the election campaigning in a bid to retain powere at the centre, while on the other hand, the opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A-led by the Congress cornered the PM Modi-led government on several issues from inflation to uneployment. Amid the I.N.D.I.A bloc's hope of springing a surprise, the Prime Minister is eying a record-equalling third straight term in power.
The NDA is set for a return to power at the Centre with a decisive victory, according to the ABP-C Voter survey. However, the NDA is likely to fall short of its '400 paar' target. The BJP is predicted to build on its 2019 win and gain even more seats this year
The saffron party is projected to be backed ably by its allies, taking the alliance's tally beyond 350. According to the CVoter survey, the BJP-led coalition is set to bag 353 to 383 seats of the total 543 in Lok Sabha. The BJP alone is projected to win 315 seats.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has dismissed the opposition's attack on its conduct of polls, with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar daring it on Monday to share evidence of attempts to influence the polling process. The results will show if the grand old party has it in its organisation and leadership to challenge the BJP amid its reducing footprint across the country since 2014.
