PM Modi Casts His Vote In Home State Gujarat, Urges People To Exercise Their Franchise: WATCH

Prime Minister cast his vote in his home state, Gujarat in Ahmedabad amid tight security during Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha Elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived at his home state Gujarat in Ahmedabad cast his vote on Tuesday morning during Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha Elections. PM Modi will poll his vote in a polling booth located on the premises of Nishan Higher Secondary School in the Ranip area. Tight security measures were implemented outside the polling booth in Ranip where PM Modi cast his vote, he showcased his inked finger soon after.

PM Modi urged people to cast their vote, "I appeal to everyone to cast their vote in this democracy. The election campaign will run for three to four weeks more. I always cast my vote here in Gujarat. (Union Minister) Amit Shah is contesting the election from here as a BJP candidate."

He then spoke about how he has to travel to Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana now. 

As the prime minister walked towards the polling booth he greeted people gathered to see him during Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha Elections.

When PM Modi arrived, Union Minister Amit Shah was also seen at the polling booth. Shah will vote at a booth in the Naranpura area. 

PM Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah are aiming to replicate the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) success of 2014 and 2019 in their home state. Voting took place in 25 out of 26 Lok Sabha seats and by-polls to five assembly seats in Gujarat.

Among the 25 seats up for grabs on May 7, Ahmedabad (East) has the highest number of candidates at 18, necessitating the use of two ballot units (BUs) across its 1,820 polling stations. The constituency with the lowest number of candidates, at three, is Bardoli. Prominent candidates in the fray include Union Home Minister Shah from Gandhinagar, as well as his cabinet colleagues Mansukh Mandaviya and Parshottam Rupala from Porbandar and Rajkot, respectively.

According to poll officials, a total of 4.97 crore individuals, including 2.56 crore males, 2.41 crore females, and 1,534 from the third gender, are eligible to vote in 50,788 polling booths across the state. These booths comprise 17,275 in urban areas and 33,513 in rural areas, as per data from the Election Commission (EC).
