Congress Ujjain Candidate Takes 'Protest Dip' In Polluted Shipra River — WATCH

Mahesh Parmar, a two-term MLA, urged residents of Ujjain to 'come to the streets and fight' for the 'survival of Shipra maa'.

Mahesh Parmar, the Congress candidate from the Ujjain Lok Sabha seat, protested against pollution in the Shipra River on Tuesday by sitting in the untreated drain water entering the water body. According to an ANI report, he also took a dip in the river.

“The government... claims to be working on a double engine... Even after spending crores, this is the condition of Shipra maa. I took a dip in the river today and I have taken the pledge that until Shipra maa is clean, and the release of drain water into the river stops... till my last breath, I will continue to fight for Shipra Maa. I urge residents of Ujjain to come to the streets and fight as it is a question about respect and Shipra maa’s survival, “ Parmar told the media.

The Lok Sabha election started on April 19, with results due on 4 June.

Parmar, 44, had earlier contested for the post of Ujjain mayor but was defeated by a small margin. He won the assembly election in 2018 and 2023 from the Tarana constituency.
