Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 7 States, 1 UT To See Polling In Phase 7. Check Date, Other Details Here

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar talked about the staggering 97 crore registered voters, with 10.5 lakh polling stations with a workforce of 1.5 crores polling officials and 55 lakhs EVMs.

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in a press conference on Saturday. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, "We are committed to giving the nation a truly festive, democratic environment. The term of the 17th Lok Sabha is due to expire on 16th June 2024. The terms of the Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim are also due to expire in June 2024. Elections are due in Jammu and Kashmir..."

At a press briefing in the national capital, Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev said polling for Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases starting from April 19  and the votes will be counted on June 4.

Lok Sabha Election 2024: States In Phase-7 Polling

Sharing details of the poll schedule, the CEC said voting in the seventh phase will be held in eight states. The polling will be held for 57 Parliamentary constituencies in the 7th phase. The date of polling for the seventh phase is June 1.

In the seventh phase, voting will be held on eight seats in Bihar, four in Himachal, three in Jharkhand, six in Odisha, and 13 in Punjab. Apart from this, voting will be held on 13 seats of Uttar Pradesh, nine seats of West Bengal, and one seat of Chandigarh.

Voting will take place in seven phases across three states: Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra will vote over five phases, while Madhya Pradesh will witness polling in four phases. Karnataka and Rajasthan will go to polls in two phases, whereas Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh will conduct voting in a single phase.

I.N.D.I.A Bloc In A Run To Stop BJP

In the wake of the last parliamentary elections, where the BJP clinched a resounding victory with 303 seats, While the Congress party, managed only 52 seats, the balance of power tilts heavily in favor of the ruling party.

However, the upcoming polls are extremely crucial for the Opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A, fighting to stop the BJP's run. In the last parliamentary polls, the BJP had won 303 seats while the Congress got 52 seats.
