Lok Sabha Election Results: Rajasthan majorly witnesses a direct contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. As far as the polls are concerned, Rajasthan has always been considered a key state, as it sends 25 MPs to the lower house. Polling in the state was held in two phases. The desert state went to the polls during Phase 1 and Phase 2 on April 19 and 26.
In the first phase of the ongoing general elections, voting was held on 12 constituencies situated in the northern and eastern regions of the state, including areas such as Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa, and Tonk-Sawai Madhopur.
In the second phase, the remaining 13 constituencies witnessed polling. The seats include: Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore, Udaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Kota, and Jhalawar-Baran.
Lok Sabha Election Results: Key Seats To Watch Out For
Ahead of the results of the Lok Sabha elections tomorrow, here are the key seats to watch out for.
Bikaner: In Bikaner, there will be a tough contest between the BJP and the Congress. On the one hand, the saffron party has fielded Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, while on the other hand, the grand old party has gone with Madan Gopal Meghwal.
Kota: In Kota, the BJP's Om Birla is set to lock horns with Congress candidate Prahlad Gunjal. Birla, a two-time MLA and current MP since 2014, will take on Gunjal, a fiery, outspoken leader who switched sides from the saffron party to Congress to secure his third term in the lower house.
Banswara: As far as Banswara is concerned, the saffron party’s Mahendra Jeet Malviya will be up against BAP's Rajkumar Roat and Congress's Arvind Damor, whose refusal to withdraw his nomination despite orders from the party marks an embarrassment for the grand old party.
Barmer: In Barmer, the BJP has pitted Union Minister Kailash Choudhary against independent Ravindra Bhati. Congress's Ummeda Ram Beniwal also has his eyes set on the seat.
Jodhpur: The Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency will witness a crucial battle in the Lok Sabha elections. Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat eyes re-election against Congress's Karan Singh Uchiyarda.
Ajmer: Ajmer is set to witness a dynamic contest between the saffron party's Bhagirath Chaudhary and Congress's Ram Chandra Choudhary. Both the leaders pitted against each other come from the dominant Jat community.
Lok Sabha Election Results: Voter Turnout In Rajasthan
The 12 seats that witnessed polling in the desert during the first phase saw a voter turnout of nearly 58 percent. While the remaining 13 seats recorded a turnout of nearly 64 percent, In the two phases of polling in the state, an overall voter turnout of around 62 percent was recorded.
