Lok Sabha Election: PM Modi, CM Yogi, Mithun Chakraborty In BJP's Star Campaigners' List For Bengal

Key leaders on the list include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and others to campaign.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released a list of 40 star campaigners for West Bengal who would campaign for party candidates in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. Key leaders on the list include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mithun Chakraborty and others.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Smriti Irani, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Amit Malviya, and Suvendu Adhikary are also among the star campaigners.

Notably, Trinamool Congress (TMC) also released their list of star campaigners on Tuesday evening. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, MP and party's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, former cricketer and candidate Yusuf Pathan, and others to campaign.

Meanwhile, CM Mamata Banerjee will start campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on March 31, a party leader said.

Doctors have advised her to rest after she sustained a major injury on her forehead after a fall at her residence on March 14.

"Our party supremo will begin the poll campaign on March 31. She will address her first rally in Krishnanagar's Dhubulia in Nadia district. There, she will campaign for TMC's Krishnanagar candidate Mahua Moitra and Ranaghat candidate Mukut Mani Adhikari", the party leader told PTI. 

CM Banerjee had announced the candidates for all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal during a grand rally held at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Grounds on March 10th. This list featured prominent figures like Yusuf Pathan, Kirti Azad, Haji Nurul Islam, and Mahua Moitra among others, reported PTI.

The 2024 general election in West Bengal is scheduled to be conducted across all 7 phases from April 19th to June 1 to elect 42 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. The results will be declared on 4 June.
