Here's all you need to know about where and how to watch the live announcement of the schedule for the 18th General Elections in 2024 by the Election Commission

Lok Sabha Election 2024 Dates: The 18th Lok Sabha elections in India are likely to be held in April and May, marking the end of the current Lok Sabha session led by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. The 17th Lok Sabha session is set to conclude on June 16, 2024. With political parties pushing their election campaigns, the NDA and the recently formed I.N.D.I.A. bloc are poised for a head-to-head battle.

The 17th Lok Sabha elections in 2019 threw up a victory for the BJP-led NDA, which secured 353 out of 543 seats. The BJP alone claimed 303 seats, surpassing the required majority of 272.

Lok Elections 2024 Dates

The official dates for the General Elections 2024 will be announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) at 3 PM on Saturday. Sources suggest the elections may take place in April and May 2024. The suspense will end in a short while.

Phases And Eligible Voters: What To Expect In General Elections 2024

While the number of phases for the upcoming elections remains unconfirmed, previous elections in 2014 and 2019 were conducted in nine and seven phases, respectively. The General Elections 2024 are likely to follow a multi-phase approach.

In 2019, India boasted 90 crore eligible voters, with an additional 15 million first-time voters. Reports for the upcoming elections indicate a substantial increase, with an expected rise of 6 crore voters, bringing the total to 96 crore eligible voters.

Recap Of Lok Sabha Elections 2019

The 2019 General Elections witnessed the BJP-led NDA securing a decisive victory with 353 seats out of 543. BJP's individual triumph with 303 seats solidified its majority. Despite an increase in seats, from 44 in 2014 to 52 in 2019, the Indian National Congress (INC) failed to attain the leader of the opposition status, falling short of the required 10% of total seats.
