Karnataka Election Result 2023: A Look At Constituencies With Lowest Winning Margins

The seats which had low winning margins included Jayanagar, Chincholi, Gandhi Nagar, Jagalur, Jayanagar, Malur, Mudigere, and Sringeri. 

As the counting of votes nears completion for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly, Congress has emerged as the single largest party in the state safely crossing the halfway mark and securing a majority in the southern state, unseating the Bharatiya Janata Party. As the day unfolded and results for each constituency were announced, there were some seats that showed a neck-to-neck fight with thin margins. 

The seats which had low winning margins included Jayanagar, Chincholi, Gandhi Nagar, Jagalur, Jayanagar, Malur, Mudigere, and Sringeri. 

Jayanagar - 16 

BJP candidate CK Ramamurthy won the Jayanagar seat in Karnataka by a thin margin of 16 votes against Congress's Soumya Reddy on Saturday. According to the EC website, Sowmya Reddy got 57,781 votes while C K Ramamurthy secured 57,797 votes.

Chincholi- 42 

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Avinash Umesh Jadhav defeated Congress’s Subhash V Rathod with a margin of 858 votes. Jadhav secured 69,963 while Rathod got 69,105 votes. 

Gandhi Nagar- 164 

This seat is probably the one with the lowest winning margin of 105. Congress’s Dinesh Gundu Rao won the Gandhi Nagar constituency securing 54,118 against BJP’s Sapthagiri Gowda who received 54,013 votes. 

Jagalur- 103

Congress’s Devendrappa won this seat with a margin of 874 votes, as he secured 50,765 votes against BJP’s SV Ramachandra who got 49,891 votes. 

Jayanagar- 173

Sowmya Reddy from Congress party won from here registering 57,591 votes with a margin of 294 votes against BJP’s CK Ramamurthy who received 57,297 votes. 

Malur- 149

KY Nanjegowda registered his win from Malur constituency against BJP’s KS Manjunathagowda with a margin of 248 votes. Nanjegowda had 50,955 votes in his kitty while Manjunathagowda got 50,707 votes. 

Mudigere- 124

Congress’s Nayana Motamma got 50,843 and won with a margin of 722 votes against BJP’s Deepak Doddaiah who registered 50,121 votes. 

Sringeri- 123 

TD Rajegowda won the polls from this constituency with a sleek margin of 167 votes getting a total of 59,171 votes against BJP’s DN Jeevaraja who got 58,970 votes. 

Kumta- 78

BJP's Dinakar Keshav Shetty defeated Congress's Suraj Naik Soni with a vote margin on 676. Shetty secured 59,965 while Soni got 59,289 votes.
