J&K Polls: BJP Announces Sixth List Of Candidates For 10 Seats

BJP releasers its sixth list of candidates for 10 seats for the upcoming polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday released its sixth list of candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls scheduled to begin from September 18. The party announced candidates for 10 seats including Karnah, Handwara, Sonawari, Bandipora, Gurez (ST), Udhampur East, Kathua (SC), Bishnah (SC), Bahu, and Marh (SC). 

The list includes the names of following candidates: Mohd Idrees Karnahi (Karnah), Ghulam Mohammad Mir (Handwara), Abdul Rashid Khan (Sonawari), Naseer Ahmad Lone (Bandipora), Faqir Ahmad Lone (Gurez-ST), RS Pathania (Udhampur East), Bharat Bhushan (Kathua-SC), Rajeev Bhagat (Bishnah-SC), Vikram Randhawa (Bahu), and Surinder Bhagat (Marh-SC). 

On Friday, the party released its manifesto providing 25 guarantees which include issuing a white paper and ensuring accountability for all the victims of terrorism besides restoring 100 “ruined temples” in Kashmir. 

The party also promised to undertake a drive to address the issue related to illegally settled Rohingya and Bangladeshi settlements in the Union Territory.

“By wiping out terrorism and separatism, we will make Jammu and Kashmir a leader in development and progress in the nation,” Shah said.  “We will publish a white paper and ensure accountability for all victims of terrorism, for this we will: fast track cases, bring justice to the victims and ensure rule of law in the region,” the manifesto read.

The BJP highlighted its accomplishments, including the revocation of Article 370, and outlined its plans to boost Jammu and Kashmir's economy. The party aims to establish three regional development boards to ensure effective implementation of government initiatives and tailor programs to address the unique needs of the Jammu region. Additionally, the BJP seeks to revitalize the tourism sector in both regions, with a focus on transforming Dal Lake into a premier global tourist attraction."
