'It Was PM Modi's Storm': Gujarat Congress Working President On Party's Poor Performance In Polls

In Gujarat, the BJP has secured 153 seats and is in the lead in three more of the 182 assembly seats, shattering all previous records for electoral success.

After BJP returned to power in Gujarat, state Congress Working President Himmat Singh Patel on Friday admitted that it was "Modi's storm" that led to the saffron party's historic victory in the state.

Speaking with ABP News, Himmat Singh Patel stated: "It was Narendra Modi's storm. He personally took charge of the election. PM Modi went to every district and block. According to him, he got so much success. Prime Minister Modi fought the entire election of Gujarat. For one year, the election of Gujarat was turned into an election of prestige."

In Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP has secured 153 seats and is in the lead in three more of the 182 assembly seats, shattering all previous records for electoral success.

On December 12, current Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is scheduled to take the oath of office. The BJP made electoral history in Gujarat by winning the most seats ever, marking its seventh straight victory.

With Narendra Modi serving as Chief Minister, the BJP not only beat its own record of 127 seats, set in 2002, but also the Congress' greatest result of 149 seats in the 1985 elections.

The extraordinary election results in Gujarat, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, left him overwhelmed with emotion. He praised BJP workers for their contributions to the party's enormous achievement.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi stated: "Thank you Gujarat. I am overcome with a lot of emotions seeing the phenomenal election results. People blessed politics of development and at the same time expressed a desire that they want this momentum to continue at a greater pace. I bow to Gujarat's Jan Shakti."

"To all hardworking @BJP4Gujarat Karyakartas I want to say - each of you is a champion! This historic win would never be possible without the exceptional hardwork of our Karyakartas, who are the real strength of our Party," he added.

In Gujarat, the BJP received a whopping 52.50 percent of the vote, while the Congress only received 27.28 percent.
