If Navjot Sidhu Wants Punjab Home Ministry, I Will Put It At His Feet: Dy CM Randhawa

Navjot Sidhu has been critical of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa for not arresting SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a drug case.

New Delhi: In signs that all is not well in Punjab Congress, deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that Navjot Singh Sidhu was upset with him ever since he became the state home minister, ANI reported.

Addressing a press conference, Randhawa said, "Sidhu has some problem. I share old relations with his family. But ever since I have become the home minister of Punjab, he is upset with me. If Sidhu wants the home ministry, then I will put it at his feet in a minute."

Sidhu has criticised the Charanjit Singh Channi-led Punjab government on several occassions. However, the Punjab CM recently downplayed reports of a possible rift with Sidhu and said he would follow the state Congress chief everywhere.

The Congress leadership in Delhi is unhappy with the state of affairs in Punjab and has asked the state leaders to put up a united front and refrain from speaking against each other, IANS reported.

Speaking about Bikram Singh Majithia, the Home Minister said he would be arrested as soon as he was seen anywhere in Punjab.

"As per my information, Bikram Singh Majithia is not in Punjab. These are fake videos and pictures. If Vikram Singh Majithia is seen anywhere in Punjab, we will immediately arrest him. Our teams are searching him. He is inside the country because he does not have the security of any of the governments. So saying that the police has the information is false. The charges slapped against him are very grave," ANI quoted Randhawa as saying.

Majithia has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on the basis of a 2018 report submitted by the anti-drug Special Task Force (STF). A lookout circular was issued against Majithia in December 2021.
