HP Polls 2022: BJP Expels Pradesh Executive Member Anu Thakur For Six Years, Day Ahead Of Voting

Thakur has been expelled from the party’s primary membership for six years for indulging in anti-party activities, the BJP said in an issued statement.

Ahead of voting in Himachal Pradesh, the BJP has expelled State executive member Anu Thakur from her rank on Friday.

Thakur has been expelled from the party’s primary membership for six years for indulging in anti-party activities, the BJP said in an issued statement. 

Earlier this month, the BJP had expelled its state vice-president and former Rajya Sabha MP Kripal Parmar, former Kinnaur MLA Tejwant Negi, former Nalagarh MLA KL Thakur, former Indora legislator Manohar Dhiman, Kullu leader Ram Singh and incumbent Aani MLA Kishori Lal. 

BJP state president Suresh Kashyap had stated that these leaders were indulging in anti-party activities. The expulsion order will take effect immediately, he said.

HP Elections 2022

The Himachal assembly poll ( Himachal Vidhan Sabha election) will be held in a single phase and the date of polling is November 12. The last date to file the nomination is October 25 and the counting of votes for the Himachal Pradesh assembly election will take place on December 8.

The tenure of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on January 8, 2023.

Himachal Pradesh 2017 Assembly Election

In the 2017 Himachal Pradesh assembly election, BJP won 44 out of 68 seats and formed the government. Congress was ousted from power and was able to gain only 21 assembly seats. Besides these two parties, CPI(M) was able to get one seat while two independent candidates won two Vidhan sabha seats.

After BJP won the assembly election in Himachal, it appointed Jai Ram Thakur to become the Chief Minister of the state.
