Kumaraswamy Raises Lok Sabha Seat-Sharing Issue At Meeting With Amit Shah, Nadda In Delhi

During the meeting, all leaders agreed that the NDA should win all 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka and support Narendra Modi's return as PM.

HD Kumaraswamy, former Karnataka CM and JD(S) chief, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda in New Delhi to discuss the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Wednesday. The leaders were also joined by HDK's son Nikhil Kumaraswamy who also serves as JD(S) youth wing state president and former MP Kupendra Reddy.

In a statement, Kumaraswamy said, "The Home Minister and Nadda had a discussion with the JD(S) leaders for more than 45 minutes on state politics, seat sharing and the issue of alliance."

The former chief minister mentioned that Shah informed him they would discuss JD(S) officially joining the BJP-led NDA and seat allocation after the Rama temple consecration in Ayodhya in the presence of Nadda.

All leaders agreed that the NDA should win all 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state, supporting Narendra Modi's return as PM. Shah and Nadda advised Kumaraswamy that BJP and JD(S) should make election decisions based on trust.

Highlighting a "strong anti-incumbency wave" against the Congress government in Karnataka within a year, Kumaraswamy said they talked about effectively bringing the state government's failures to the people's attention.

HDK also said that the political developments in Karnataka were discussed with senior BJP leaders and the Home Minister was informed about the drought situation in the state.

In September last year, JD(S) joined the NDA following a meeting between Kumaraswamy, Shah, and Nadda in New Delhi. Both parties affirmed their commitment to jointly contest the upcoming general elections in Karnataka.

It may be noted that JD(S) previously contested the elections in alliance with Congress.
