FIR Against Amit Shah, Madhavi Latha On Congress Plaint Over 'Involving Minors' In Hyderabad Poll Campaign

Hyderabad police registered a case against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Hyderabad candidate K Madhavi Latha, and other BJP leaders for allegedly using children in a poll rally.

Hyderabad police registered a case against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency candidate K Madhavi Latha, and other BJP leaders for allegedly using minors in a recent poll campaign, news agency PTI reported on Friday. The FIR was lodged based on a complaint filed by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee )TPCC) vice-president Niranjan Reddy, who alleged that during a BJP rally from Laldawaza to Sudha Talkies on May 1, several minor children were present on the dias alongside Amit Shah.

Niranjan Reddy, in his complaint to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), stated that the presence of a child holding a BJP symbol is a violation of the guidelines set by the Election Commission, PTI report said.

Upon receiving the complaint, the CEO forwarded it to the city police for investigation, resulting in the registration of an FIR by the Moghalpura police station on Thursday evening.

Alongside Amit Shah, and Madhavi Latha, the FIR also names other BJP leaders, including T Yaman Singh, senior BJP leader G Kishan Reddy, and legislator T Raja Singh.

The case has been registered under IPC Section 188, which pertains to the violation of orders issued by a public servant. Police are currently conducting further investigation into the matter.

Hyderabad is all set to go to polls in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 13.
