'Panauti' Vs 'Tubelight': Congress And BJP Sharpen Poster Wars Ahead Of 5 State Polls Results
Assembly Polls 2023: BJP and Congress have targeted PM Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi respectively, intensifying poster war attacks on each other.
Elections 2023: With only one state remaining to go to polls this year as voting is underway in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Congress have amplified attacks on each other through posters. While Congress carried on with the 'Panauti' jibe at PM Narendra Modi, the BJP retorted with a swipe at Rahul Gandhi and called him 'Tueblight'.
Congress on Friday shared a poster with the caption "PANAUTI-E-AZAM" on X, formerly Twitter. The poster has PM Modi's photo behind curtains as he is looking from behind them.

"Congress presents, Made in China, Rahul Gandhi in and as TUBELIGHT," the poster shared by the BJP read.
Notably, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was recently issued a notice by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for his 'panauti' and other remarks against the PM, The BJP filed a complaint against the Wayanad MP leading to the EC notice. Congress leader and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Friday said the party will give a proper response to the notice, adding that people know what the BJP leaders say in rallies.
“It is alleged that comparing a prime minister to a ‘jaibkatra’ [pickpocket] and using the word ‘panauti’ is unbecoming of a very senior leader of national political party. Further, the allegation of grant of waivers of Rs 14,00,000 crore for the past nine years, is asserted by the BJP, as not borne out on facts," the ECI said in its notice.
Both parties are making last-ditch attempts to woo voters as the December 3 counting day nears with only Telanaga remaining to vote. Voting is meanwhile underway in Rajasthan.
