Elections 2022 | 'Udhar Bhi Sab Apne Hain': Shashi Tharoor Reacts On Defections From Congress To BJP

In the latest defection RPN Singh, a former minister in the UPA-led government tendered resignation from the Congress party on Wednesday

New Delhi: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor took a veiled dig at recent defections to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as the former party faced a massive jolt on Wednesday with RPN Singh, a former minister in the UPA-led government tendering resignation.

Tharoor expressed his reaction through a prose in Twitter stating that the BJP now looks familiar as many members have switched over from Congress. “Everyone is leaving home, Maybe they have some other dreams, Now the other side seems familiar, Now that they are our own (Congress-Yukt BJP!),”  reads the translated tweeted in Hindi.</p

The Congress leader didn’t leave the opportunity to mock at the BJP's ‘Congress-mukta Bharat’ campaign.

RPN Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday hours after resigning from the primary membership of the Congress party. He shared his resignation letter on Twitter stating that he will be starting a new chapter in his political journey.

"I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress with immediate effect," the letter stated. "I thank you for providing me an opportunity to serve the nation, its people and the party."

Singh's exit from Congress comes a day after his name was included in the party's list of 30-star campaigners for the first phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh. Interestingly, Singh had represented the Padrauna assembly constituency and had defeated Swami Prasad Maurya from Kushinagar in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.

Sources close to IANS said that Singh was miffed over the party affairs in his home district of Padrauna as he was not taken into confidence on many issues related to the party functioning in his turf.

Last year Jitin Prasada, son of the late Congress veteran Jitendra Prasada, joined the BJP claiming that he had been unable to contribute and work for the benefit of the people. At that time, Congress ended up losing Prasada, who joined the saffron party was also sworn in as a minister in the Yogi Adityanath cabinet.
