BJP Attempted To Split AIADMK: Former Tamil Nadu CM EPS Hits Out At Former Ally Ahead Of LS Polls

A former ally of the AIADMK, the BJP, was implicated in "false propaganda" against the latter, employing a "divide and rule" strategy.

Months after severing ties, Edappadi Palaniswami, the general secretary of AIADMK, accused that the BJP, his former ally, attempted to divide the AIADMK but it did not pay heed ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls. The AIADMK had terminated its alliance with the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance back in September.

A former ally of the AIADMK, the BJP, was implicated in "false propaganda" against the former, employing a "divide and rule" strategy.

In a letter addressed to party members ahead of the April 19 Lok Sabha polls, he emphasized the AIADMK's resilience since its establishment in 1972. Hinting at expelled party leader O Panneerselvam and his supporters, he remarked, "Unwanted weeds in the 'field called AIADMK' have been removed, and we are ready for harvest."

According to PTI, Edappadi Palaniswami said, "The BJP, despite being a national party has descended to a divide and rule of the people, carrying out a false propaganda against us as its full-time election campaign."

"After countering the various efforts undertaken by them to split our party, today we stand strong united. Haven't we been witnessing the violence, venomous arrows shot from the north, the obnoxious arrangements made due to the arrogance of power since 1972 when the party was founded. Haven't we been tasting success overcoming all these cowardice," he said.

He pointed out that the BJP, by elevating certain newly emerged leaders, is disregarding the hard work and dedication of AIADMK workers, though he refrained from mentioning anyone specifically. He emphasized the need to teach such individuals a fitting lesson in the upcoming elections.
