Kejriwal ‘Attacked’ With Stones By Parvesh Verma's ‘Goons’, AAP Alleges. BJP Claims Bid To ‘Mow Down’ 3 Locals
AAP alleged that the attack was done to hurt Kejriwal and stop him from campaigning. Meanwhile, BJP's Parvesh Verma said a party worker's leg was broken after being crushed under Kejriwal's car.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday alleged that party chief Arvind Kejriwal was attacked with bricks and stones by the "goons" of BJP leader Parvesh Verma, while he was campaigning for Delhi Assembly polls. However, Verma responded and rubbished the allegations calling them "baseless", and instead claimed that three local residents of New Delhi were hit by Kejriwal's car. He further said that he will be filing a complaint under "attempt to murder".
The party alleged that the attack was done in a bid to hurt Kejriwal and stop him from campaigning and said that it would not be scared of the "cowardly attack".
"Fearing defeat, BJP panicked, got its goons to attack Arvind Kejriwal. BJP candidate Parvesh Verma's goons attacked Arvind Kejriwal with bricks and stones while he was campaigning and tried to hurt him so that he could not campaign. BJP people, Kejriwal ji is not going to be scared of your cowardly attack, the people of Delhi will give you a befitting reply," the AAP stated in a post on X, sharing a video.

Shortly after the incident, AAP national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar addressed a press conference on the party's claim, where she lashed out at the BJP, calling the incident "shameful".
"Arvind Kejriwal was attacked with stones while campaigning. The video is publicly available. Such an incident has never happened before in New Delhi Vidhan Sabha, which is a peaceful constituency where high-profile individuals, officials, and even the EC office are located," she said.
She further stressed that the attack was "orchestrated" by Verma and that the locals stepped in to protect Kejriwal from "BJP attackers".
"When Parvesh Verma was campaigning there, he must have panicked upon seeing Arvind Kejriwal, realising that despite distributing large sums of money, the people still fully support Kejriwal. In this panic, BJP and Parvesh Verma orchestrated an attack on Arvind Kejriwal using their goons, which is highly condemnable. It was the local people who stepped in to protect him from BJP's attackers. If statements are being made (by Delhi police) claiming that no attack happened, then it is truly shameful," she added.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh also condemned the alleged attack and said that the BJP wants to win the Delhi polls through "hooliganism". He asserted that the AAP workers will never bow down before the BJP.
"They are attacking Arvind Kejriwal with stones. Parvesh Verma's people attacked him with stones. You want to win the elections by hooliganism. The workers of Aam Aadmi Party, the leaders of Aam Aadmi Party, have never bowed down before you. Why do they do such cowardly acts, what will they achieve by this? BJP is a party of cowards, I strongly condemn it," he said.

BJP Leader Counterclaims 'Attempt To Murder'
Reacting to the incident, Verma hit out at Kejriwal saying that he is afraid of his defeat and was making "baseless" allegations.
He said a BJP party worker's leg was broken after being crushed by the AAP chief's car. "The car of Arvind Kejriwal has gone ahead by crushing the worker of the BJP. The leg of the worker (BJP) has broken and I am going to the Lady Hardinge Medical College to inquire about his health...This is very shameful," Verma remarked.

BJP leader Parvesh Verma has been fielded against former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi Assembly constituency for the upcoming Delhi polls, slated to be held on February 5.
Verma claimed that the incident took place when Kejriwal was campaigning door-to-door near Lal Bahadur Sadan in New Delhi and people raised questions about employment. He further said that when three unemployed residents tried asking him questions, the Punjab Police "beat them up and a worker's phone was broken".
"AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal's car hit the three youths and the driver of the car applied brakes after seeing the three youths but Arvind Kejriwal signaled the driver to crush them... They have been injured," he alleged.
The BJP leader further called the incident "an attempt to murder" and that he will be filing a complaint against Kejriwal. "The three youths will also file an FIR and a case of attempt to murder will also be registered," he remarked.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla slammed the ruling party saying, "AAP means Anarchist Apradhi Party. The way Arvind Kejriwal drove his car over three youths shows his mindset and how they (AAP) are resorting to violence because they don't have any answer."
