Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Congress Releases 8th List Of 14 Candidates For UP, MP, Other States

In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress has fielded Rao Yadvendra Singh from Guna, Tarvar Singh Lodhi from Damoh and Pratap Bhanu Sharma from Vidisha. 

Congress on Wednesday released its eight list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress list includes candidates fielded in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh which will go to polls starting April 19.

In Jharkhand, the Congress has named Kalicharan Munda from Khunti, Sukhdeo Bhagat from Lohardaga and Jai Prakashbhai Patel from Hazaribagh.

In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress has fielded Rao Yadvendra Singh from Guna, Tarvar Singh Lodhi from Damoh and Pratap Bhanu Sharma from Vidisha.

The Congress has fielded Rao Yadvendra Singh against Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Madhya Pradesh's Guna and Pratap Bhanu Sharma against former MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Vidisha. Meanwhile, Tarvar Singh Lodhi has been nominated from Damoh. 

In Telangana, the party has chosen Suguna Kumari Chelimala from Adilabad, Tatiparthi Jeevan Reddy from Nizamabad, Neelam Madhu from Medak and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy from Bhongir.

In UP, the Congress nominated Dolly Sharma from Ghaziabad, Nakul Dubey from Sitapur, Shivram Valmiki from Bulandshahr (SC) seat and Virendra Chaudhary from Maharajganj. 

With this, the total number of candidates declared by the party so far has reached 208. 
 
The announcement of eighth list comes hours after top Congress leaders met in Delhi to hold discussions on party's Lok Sabha election candidates in UP, Telangana, Goa and Jharkhand. 
 
The meeting saw the presence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, KC Venugopal and the members of its Central Election Committee including senior leaders Ambika Soni, Madhusudan Mistry, Uttam Kumar Reddy and Salman Khurshid.
 
On being questioned about Amethi and Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajai Rai said there was no discussion on the two seats. "We had conveyed our views on these seats (Amethi and Rae Bareli) the last time. It is up to the leadership now to take a decision," he said, as quoted by PTI.
