These states' assembly elections are scheduled for this year, and the Congress is currently in power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, where it hopes to repeat its rule.
In other poll-bound states, the Congress is attempting to seize power from the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, the BRS in Telangana, and the NDA coalition in Mizoram.
Earlier this month, BJP President J.P. Nadda had appointed election in-charges for states holding Assembly polls later this year, including Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, Bhupendra Yadav, and Mansukh Mandaviya for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chattisgarh, respectively. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister for Railways, has been named co-incharge of the Madhya Pradesh elections, with Yadav.
The BJP selected Joshi as the election in charge for Rajasthan on 7 July evening, along with former Gujarat deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and Haryana BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi.
Om Mathur of the BJP and Mansukh Mandaviya of the Union Ministry of Health have been selected as poll in charge for Chattisgarh.
In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP will be led by two Union Ministers, Yadav and Vaishnaw. Former Minister Prakash Javadekar, who also looks after Kerala for the party, and BJP general secretary Sunil Bansal have been nominated as poll incharges in Telangana, which recently had a change in State unit president with Union minister G Kishan Reddy assuming charge.
