The counting of votes for Chhattisgarh Assembly election, which saw high octane campaigning by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and ruling Congress, is scheduled for Sunday. The voter turnout in the first phase stood at 71.48 percent, while the second phase witnessed a turnout of 68.15 percent.

Exit polls have indicated a close battle between the Congress and the BJP. According to the ABP-CVoter survey, the Congress is predicted to secure 43.4 per cent of the votes, with BJP breathing down its neck with a 41.2 per cent share. The survey suggests that the BJP might see the most significant increase in vote share, rising by 8.2 per cent compared to the previous election.

Projections hint that the Congress might secure 45 to 51 seats, whereas the BJP could secure 36 to 42 seats. Presently, the Congress holds 71 seats in the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly, while the BJP occupies 14 seats.

Alongside Chhattisgarh, the vote count for four other states – Telangana, Mizoram, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh – is also scheduled for December 3.
