BRS's Warangal Lok Sabha Seat Nominee Kadiyam Kavya Resigns, Sparks Buzz Of Joining Congress
Kavya is daughter of senior BRS leader Kadiyam Srihari, who previously held the position of deputy chief minister in KCR's First Cabinet.
In an unexpected blow to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana, Warangal Lok Sabha candidate Kadiyam Kavya resigned from the party and has decided to also withdraw from the election contest.
In a letter to BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Kavya announced her decision to withdraw from the contest. She expressed concerns over recent media reports implicating party leaders in allegations of corruption, encroachments, phone tapping, and liquor scams, which she believes have tarnished the party's reputation, as per a report on IANS.
Additionally, she highlighted the detrimental impact of the lack of coordination and cooperation among BRS leaders in the district. He emphasized that the issue has further weakened the party's image.
Kavya is the daughter of senior BRS leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari. It may be noted that Kadiyam Srihari previously held the position of deputy chief minister in KCR's First Cabinet.
Talking to The New Indian Express, Kavya's father said that she was not interested in contesting the polls.
However, her nomination already resulted in the defection of a party leader. Following the BRS's decision to field Kavya denying the ticket to sitting MP Pasunuri Dayakar, the MP expressed his dissatisfaction. He later joined the Congress party. Dayakar was elected in both 2015 and 2019 from Warangal, a seat reserved for Scheduled Castes.
Kavya To Join Congress?
For Lok Sabha Elections, Congress is yet to make an announcement regarding the nominee for Warangal Lok Sabha Seat.
Kavya's potential move to join the Congress party and contest the General Elections on its ticket remains uncertain at this time.
