BJP President JP Nadda Resigns As Rajya Sabha MP From Himachal Pradesh

JP Nadda was representing the seat from Himachal Pradesh whose term was ending in April. His resignation has been accepted by the Rajya Sabha Chairman.

BJP National President JP Nadda on Monday resigned from his position as Rajya Sabha MP and his resignation has been accepted by Rajya Sabha Chairman.
 

“Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, an elected member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), representing the State of Himachal Pradesh, resigned his seat in the Rajya Sabha and his resignation has been accepted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha w.e.f 4th March, 2024,” a Rajya Sabha parliamentary statement read on Monday.

JP Nadda was representing the seat from Himachal Pradesh whose term was ending in April. He was among 57 Rajya Sabha members whose tenure was ending in April.
 
Last week, Nadda was elected as the Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat. He was among the 41 candidates who won seats unopposed in the recently concluded Rajya Sabha elections ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
 
As per officials, Nadda resigned from his Himachal Pradesh seat after being elected as a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat. His resignation has been accepted by the Rajya Sabha Chairman. 
 
However, there are speculations that Nadda will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
 
BJP national president JP Nadda is on a two-day visit to Belagavi from Monday where he is holding several public and organisational programmes. Nadda reached Sambra Airport, Belagavi in Karnataka earlier today.
 
Meanwhile, BJP's Parliamentary Board member and former Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa had suggested that the party's second list of candidates for the crucial Lok Sabha elections is likely to be finalised on March 6.

The BJP released its first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, naming 34 Union ministers including PM Modi, who will contest from Varanasi for a third time. The first list with candidates across 16 States and UTs included heavyweights like Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh from their current Gandhinagar and Lucknow seats respectively.
