New Delhi: Ahead of the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019, Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the Congress and the BJP will gain zero seats in Sunday’s polling.
Confident of SP’s victory on maximum seats in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav also said that even in the seventh phase, the two parties will find it difficult to hold grounds. He said the Congress may win a few seats, but BJP will win only 1.
Akhilesh trained guns at PM Modi and the BJP, accusing the party of indulging in caste-based politics. “PM and BJP blame others for things they do or want to do. BJP is doing caste based politics and politics of spreading hatred among different castes and religions,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.
Their government is based on lies and hatred. Gathbandhan has decided to demolish the government which was formed on hatred, Akhilesh said.
He also accused BJP of instructing officials to deliberately issue Red Cards to the SP and said that BJP is conspiring to scare people so that they don't cast their votes.
He said: “BJP wants to win through 'Red Card'. Officers have been instructed to issue as much Red Cards as possible to SP. SP-BSP workers are being issued Red Cards. They're being stopped from casting votes.”
“Will Red Cards be issued to SP-BSP only? Is everyone in BJP clean, is there no one there with criminal background who was issued Red Card,” he questioned.
He accused the Congress of spreading rumours about the SP-BSP alliance and said he has faith in workers of both the parties that they will not pay heed to them. "Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Samajwadi Party is assisting other parties and is not with the BSP and now we have come to know that the Congress is also spreading similar rumours," Yadav told reporters.
"I want to say the SP-BSP alliance is strong. It is my appeal to the workers of both the parties to remain alert. We have faith in SP workers, the leadership and workers of the BSP that they will pay no heed to them," he said.
The SP chief said both the BJP and the Congress were the same in spreading rumours.
Voting for the penultimate sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections will be held in 59 constituencies on May 12.
