With Eye On Polls In 5 States, BJP Central Election Committee To Meet Today. PM Modi, Shah To Attend

A meeting of the Central Election Committee of the BJP will be held on August 16 to prepare a strategy for the upcoming elections in five states.

The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janta Party will hold a meeting on Wednesday, August 16 at the party headquarters. According to the news agency ANI, the meeting will be attended by 15 election committee members including PM Narendra Modi, party president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh among others. The members will be discussing the strategy for the assembly elections due in five states. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram will go to polls between late 2023 to early 2024.

The elections in these states will suggest the direction in which the Lok Sabha polls may go next year.

This comes after Prime Minister Modi held a meeting with MPs of different NDA allies. Earlier in a meeting of the NDA, the partners resolved to join hands to bring Modi back in 2024. In a meeting in July, NDA MPs were split into a group of 10 to have better coordination in view of next year's general elections.

On July 31, the PM met some NDA MPs where he asked them to go to people with positive messages about the government’s work and advised them to spend the maximum time with people to reach out to them.

"We will be going to the people and telling them about the work done for the welfare of the people in the last nine years," said BJP MP Anil Agrawal.

PM Modi addressed a meeting of 44 MPs from the western part of Uttar Pradesh from upto the Kanpur-Bundelkhand region. He later spoke to the alliance MPs from West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand at a similar meeting on the Parliament annexe.

"This was NDA's first meeting attended by PM Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda. Discussions related to the 2024 General Elections were held and we (NDA) will be winning with a larger majority," said BJP MP Sanjeev Balyan after the meeting.
