Kodandaram stated that his party will not fight the upcoming elections but will extend its support to the grand old party on the ground against the ruling BRS. Telangana Jana Samithi was founded on March 31, 2018.
Kodandaram was also the chairman of the all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee, which led the separate Telangana state movement in 2009. Telangana is set to go to the polls on November 30, and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. Telangana is set to witness an intriguing triangular contest between the BRS, Congress, and BJP.
In 2018, the BRS won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress finished a distant second with 19 seats and a vote share of 28.7 per cent.
Meanwhile, Additional security personnel will be deployed at around 500 polling stations in areas affected by Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) ahead of assembly polls in Telangana. The polling stations where security would be heightened include areas bordering Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra in a bid to thwart any attempts to disrupt the November 30 Assembly elections in the state, officials said, reported PTI.
About 511 polling stations have been identified as LWE affected in eight districts of Telangana bordering Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, said the officials.
"Accordingly, Central Armed Police Forces personnel will be deployed in additional numbers in those areas, in addition to the state police force. Area domination will primarily be the strategy," Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj told the news agency. The polling duration would be a little different in these stations as compared to others, he said.
